Process Formulas/Recipes

A unique feature of Answer Manufacturing is the Relational Process Model, designed for Process, Semi Process and Volume Repetitive industries.

The Relational Process Model can also be used by any industry where the traditional Bills of Material and/or Routings are severely limiting, i.e. in disassembly industry types.

The Relational Process Model (RPM) provides the specific functions required by these industry types, including by-products, co-products, waste and linked flow facilities.

Relational Process Model

Answer Enterprise is aimed at the whole manufacturing sector, including process manufacturing, not just at discrete or assembly businesses.
To allow both discrete and process systems to be remodelled, the data definition system that describes the manufacturing process had to be re-thought and re-designed.

The Answer Relational Process Model has been designed to address these requirements and take into account the specific requirements of the process industry.

Define your recipes and formulas with the Relational Process Model.
Initially define a model of your production processes and the steps (process stages) that this entails. These can be serial, parallel or any combination of processing activities.
Add Raw Materials, Resources and other requirements that are consumed or produced at each Process Stage to create the product specifications.

Resources are best thought of as anything that is consumed/produced and requires control in the manufacturing process, or has cost implications.

The Answer Relational Process Model can be viewed as a set of processes, which address two distinct elements:

  • A Set of processes to Model the Process Stages that occur within the Manufacturing environment. The data structure is called a Relational Process Model of the Manufacturing Process.
  • A set of processes describing the resources that are used and produced at each of the Model Process Stages. These Resources are fully user definable and include any Resource that must be controlled or have Cost Implications, including Time. These Data sets are called Specifications of the Products that you wish to make.

There are no restrictions on the number of Models that can be created and maintained.
Models can be complex or simple depending on the particular manufacturing process that requires controlling.
Each Model can be defined with as many Specifications as required. There are no limits. For example, one Model for a production line may be created but many products manufactured on it.

The Relational Process Model uniquely combines both the Bill of Material and Routing in one Data Model offering many distinct advantages to the end user including speed and ease of maintenance.

As an integral component of Answer Enterprise ERP, the Relational Process Model combines with Inventory Management and Bills of Materials, Planning Modules MPSP and MRP and Costing modules to ensure seamless product definition, costing and processing.
